ABOUT THE FILM: Set one year after a cataclysmic event known as "The Uprising" forced humanity out of the major cities and into cramped, fortified refugee camps, "PUMPKIN" tells the story of a viral holocaust that has shifted the balance of global power into the hands of the walking dead and forces two survivors to the breaking point, one fighting to protect what remains of his family and home, the other trying to get out of the quarantine zone to safety.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION: "PUMPKIN" was produced as part of "THE ALMOST FAMOUS FILM FESTIVAL: 48 IN 2008" by Emmy® Award Winning independent filmmaker WADE STAI, who not only Directed the film, but also acted as the Producer, Screenwriter, HD Cinematographer, Editor, FX Artist and virtually every other behind the scenes task.
Wade was joined by local Tucson actors; MAYRA CELAYA, STEVE McKEE, SIERRA JEFFERY and CHELSEA HEAVENER along with Make-up FX Artist SONIA CAMPBELL, location support from MATT VAN HOESEN (Tycoon Studios) and the haunting score composed and performed by DANIEL THOMAS (The Clefjumpers) "PUMPKIN" made the journey from script to screen in two days. The film was written, shot, edited, scored, mixed, and completed in the 48 hours between 7:00PM Friday, February 15 and 7:00PM Sunday, February 17.
COMPETITION REQUIREMENTS:
61 Teams entered, 45 completed films, 20 were chosen to screen in the Top 20 festival.
THE PREMIERE SCREENING: "PUMPKIN" premiered to spectacular audience reaction from the sold out crowd of 457 independent film fans on Thursday, February 28 at the AMC Arizona Center 24 in downtown Phoenix and took home 3 awards as part of the A3F: 48 IN 2008 - TOP 20 FESTIVAL SCREENING!
